Description
Please join the Athens-East Piedmont Chapter for a volunteer planting day at Dudley Park with our friends at the ACC Sustainability Office. Please register online here so that we'll know who will be coming to volunteer.
Where: Dudley Park
When: April 29th, 9-noon, although volunteers are welcome to stay as late as 3pm to continue working with ACC Sustainability staff.
Park: Chicopee Complex/Dudley Park Parking lot 1170 E Broad St, Athens, GA 30601
Meet Up: Take the natural surface trail or Greenway from the parking lot to the new bathroom and pavilion at the top of the hill of Dudley Park, close to where the Firefly trail comes into the Park. We will place direction signs.
What to Bring: ACCGov will provide the plants, gloves, hand trowels, shovels, hand drills/augers. You can just bring yourself and a willingness to get your hands dirty! But, if you happen to have a favorite planting tool- feel free to bring it along with you.
Keep in Mind: It's April. The weather can range from freezing to sweltering and change in 15 minutes, dress appropriately. If one of the days looks to be a total washout due to heavy rain or thunderstorms we will postpone. Dudley Park has a long rich history of use, which means you never know what you will find in the dirt when you dig so we will provide gloves, and we ask that everyone wear closed-toe shoes.
